1. Why Pu Luong?

2. Best time to visit Pu Luong

3. How to get to Pu Luong?

3.1. Public transportation

There is no direct bus to Pu Luong so it is quite difficult if you want to use public transport. To catch a bus to Pu Luong Thanh Hoa, you have to use a combination of many types of vehicles together.

From Hanoi, you could catch a car to Ba Thuoc (Canh Nang Town), usually, the cars go to the center of the district, which is about 20 km from Pu Luong. You can rent a motorbike taxi to come in. From Giap Bat and My Dinh bus stations, there is a car of Hoang Phuong garage (0973737778) to Ba Thuoc daily.

3.2. Personal transportation

The most convenient and fastest way to get to Pu Luong is by personal vehicle (motorbike, car) if you come from Hanoi or some provinces in the North.

From Hanoi, follow National Road 6 toward Hoa Binh, choose one of two roads through Lung Van cloud valley or through Ban Lac and Mai Chau and then to Pu Luong.

The road passing Lung Van is a small road with winding passes resembling the terrain of the northwest provinces, the scenery on both sides of the road is majestic and pristine. On the way, you will have the opportunity to admire the wonderful scenery, the clouds covering the mountain body or the misty morning mist in the valley. The distance is about 200km, the time to move the pass is around 4-5 hours.

4. What to see in Pu Luong?

4.1. Kho Muong village - Doi Cave (Kho Muong Cave)

Come to Kho Muong, visitors can admire the natural scenery, experience, learn the culture, customs, and traditions of the Thai people, immerse themselves in folklife and enjoy traditional dishes. An important highlight of Kho Muong is Kho Muong Cave, also known as Doi Cave (Bat Cave). The entrance to the cave is a road covered by forest trees. From outside, Doi Cave is only over 100m but the width of the cave is more than 2.5 km, with many nooks and crannies deep in the ground.

4.2. Hieu village - Hieu waterfall

Hieu village and Hieu waterfall belong to Co Lung commune, Ba Thuoc district, Thanh Hoa. Coming to Pu Luong in the ripe rice season, you will be surprised by the 25 km long road from Canh Nang town to Hieu village because the two sides of the road are terraced fields lying on either side of the stream. 4.3. Son - Ba - Muoi village

Son, Ba, and Muoi are the 3 highland villages of Lung Cao commune. This place is about 130 km northwest of the city center and is known as a miniature Sapa because of the cool, moderate climate all year round, temperatures from 18-22 degrees. However, because of the high mountains, in the winter, it is quite cold, sometimes with snow, down to -1, -2 degrees; the temperature is cool in the summer but the temperature is very low at night.

Son – Ba – Muoi are also known as Cao Son area, in the core area of ​​Pu Luong Nature Reserve and adjacent to Ngoc Son – Ngo Luong Nature Reserve of Hoa Binh. These villages are located at the top of the Pha Hé and Pha Chien mountains, at an altitude of 1,200m above sea level, running parallel to the majestic Pu Luong – Cuc Phuong mountain circuit.

4.4. Don village (Thanh Lam commune)

Don village possesses a pristine landscape, with terraced fields stretching, stilted houses located on the quiet tranquil hillside. When coming to Don, visitors will learn how to weave cloth, enjoy many flavors, specialties in the uplands such as bamboo shoots, grass ducks, wild pigs, hill chickens, fish soup … and more both the sincerity and warmth of the local people.
